Harriet Harding

Tenor/sopranino sax and Sirens Big Band co band leader

Co-leader of Sirens Big Band, Harriet is studying composition honours at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her exploration of music has lead her on a diverse journey so far including work in her trio, Me, Kevin and Steve, percussion with Sydney Youth Orchestra, tenor sax for Orquesta Kashe, a Colombian- Australian salsa merengue cumbia band, sopranino sax with Pow Pow Shizaam and a residency at Tokio.

Harriet is the founder and band leader of the Newtown Community Choir, which boasts a mixture of members including the homeless, grandparents,  uni students, queers, musicians and professional singers.

With no limit to her musical adventures, Harriet also improvises with poets and painters as part of the Mersey Sound Collective, busks around Sydney, and is currently playing percussion for the Sydney Uni Opera Company's Turning of the Screw by Benjamin Britten. She also teaches sax and composition in Gordon (Music Makers Music School), and Newtown Primary, and recently featured in Sax and the City for Sydney Festival 2010.
